As it was yesterday.
And the day before.
And there is snow on the ground today.
As there was yesterday.
Yet, somehow, the birds are singing.
Do they know something we don't?
Is spring actually going to come regardless of the clouds and the snow and the bare trees?
The birds are paying no mind to the fact that it doesn't LOOK like spring outside. They are simply trusting that it IS spring and that the sun WILL shine if they just keep trusting and waiting...
Why is it the birds hold more wisdom than us?
We look outside and see hopeless winter, complain when we put on our sweaters and coats, and forget that each year, dutifully, unfailingly, spring comes.
Why do the birds sing when no sun is shining?
They sing because they believe in spring even when it's winter. And they sing because they know what is coming. And they sing because they have hope.
I think we should be a little more like the birds, don't you? Praise God in the quiet and in the storm. Praise God when it's cloudy and praise God when the sun is out. Praise God without seeing God, praise God without hearing God. Praise God because we trust God, and praise God because we believe in God.
Isn't that what Christ did, too? On that cross, 2,000 years ago. He went to His death believing that God would bring Him back to life. He trusted God without seeing Him, He trusted God without hearing Him.
And just as God brings us spring every year, God kept His promise and brought Jesus back to life.
What more evidence do we need than that?
We do not need to see or hear God. The birds do no need to see the sun.
We need to trust. We need to hope. We need to believe.
My inspiration: The birds that are singing outside my window.
...Love, Anna...
P.S. Here is a link to the facebook page for "Sasquatch: the Musical", which is the production I am involved in this spring. I myself think it's pretty fantastic! Check it out - and come if you can!
So much truth here, girl. Even the Bible says to "look at the birds of the sky, they do not sow or reap..." (aka worry about tomorrow:) May we all have hope of the one to come!
ReplyDeleteGreat verse! Thank you for your faithful reading and commenting...it is appreciate more than you know! :)
DeleteI love the line -- "we...forget each year -- dutifully, unfailingly, spring comes" -- how true that is! Having faith in what we cannot see -- beautiful! I love your writing!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is indeed a message we all need to hear this time of year - especially me! :)
Delete"They sing because they believe in spring even when it's winter." I need a little more of that belief in spring myself these days--it's been miserably cold here lately and no relief in sight. Love your blog, Anna! I'm still reading. Keep up the great work!
